John is Chief Executive of British Mensa and also a director of Mensa Publications Limited a subsidiary company of Mensa.
John started his career in local government finance as an internal auditor. He then changed career and worked for 18 years in regional newspapers in commercial management positions with Westminster Press, SEnews, Emap and Southern Newspapers PLC.
A further career change saw him enter the not for profit sector and join Mensa as Chief Executive where he has helped introduce new and more efficient services for members and built up commercial activity for the Mensa brand with several partnership arrangements in publishing, games market, radio and the popular Child Genius TV programme He is a keen tennis player, a golfer in progress and enjoys cooking.
Mensa was founded in England in 1946 by Roland Berrill, a barrister, and Dr Lance Ware, a scientist and lawyer.
